These Tibet photos come from our journeys in 2002 and 2007 in the Lhasa area, plus a couple of road trips – to Lake Namtso and then to Everest Base Camp on the Tibet side. We hope that the images bring to you some of the wild, stunning beauty of the Central Tibetan landscapes, and the vibrant life and the indomitable spirit of the Tibetan people. The photos were taken in and around Lhasa, Mount Everest Base Camp, the Pembo area, Lake Namtso, and Shigatse. The Lhasa area photos include the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple, and the great three monasteries of Central Tibet: Sera Monastery, Ganden Monastery, and Drepung Monastery.

Enjoying this website so much! I was in Tibet Aug. 1996 and loved every moment except seeing the Chinese solders.
Thank you for what you are doing!

I recognized Potala Palace right off from an illustration in a novel I once read. It was drawn from almost the exact same vantage point as the photo. The contrast of the town surrounding it was intriguing, however, as the illustration was meant to represent 1959.
I would really like to visit there one day.

Very nice unique views — particularly of Everest. The sacredness of the mountain was honored without all the trekkers, equipment and litter. Well done!
