His Holiness returning to his residence after an early-morning ceremony at the Tsuglakhang (the main temple in McLeod Ganj). One of the great joys of living just across the road from his residence was hearing about unpublicized days when HH would be attending prayers at the temple. I'd wake up pre-dawn, and go wait in the quiet mountain morning at the nearly empty temple. On this particular day, His Holiness arrived before almost anyone else, so there were maybe 10 other monks around and a few security guys. Before settling in for the prayer, he looked around and saw me sitting alone on the side and started chuckling and waving, as he does. I guess that's why some people call him His Happiness.
