Yamdroktso Lake sits in the middle of the an endlessly long, scary drive over three different passes on the road to Gyantse. The weather turned rainy, the road frightening, with the Land Cruiser shimmy-shammying heart-sickeningly on muddy cliffsides. It looks like a placid scene in this photo, but the wind was howling and rain starting to fall again after the clouds had graciously broken a few minutes so we could view the lake, normally a beautiful blue.
