Tibetan Photos: The Road to Gyantse
Descending into Gyantse

After crossing the 16,551 foot (5045 m) Karo La Pass, the road descends toward Gyantse past lush green meadows against the white peaks in the distance. Somewhere along here, we came across a Jeep full of Chinese, taking fake "Tibet" shots, a woman dressed in an extravagant chuba (Tibetan style cloak-dress), her hands raised in a ridiculously high "namaste" gesture. We hooted and hollered, unable to refrain ourselves, after weeks of hiding our feelings about the Chinese in Tibet.
