Like so many people, we dearly love the flavor of Tibetan dumplings — momos — and wondered how that great, unique flavor would translate to a burger. A little to our surprise, it tasted fantastic :-) Lobsang shows you how to make the juicy, delicious burgers for yourself on this video.
We make these burgers as healthy as we can by keeping them on the small size and by using grass-fed beef, light sodium soy sauce, light mayonnaise and small-sized whole wheat muffins. Most packaged English muffins have quite a lot of sugar in them that may make the taste odd. The muffins we use come from Trader Joe’s (TJ’s Disraeli and Gladstone multi-grain British style English muffins) and have a lower sugar content than many English muffins. They taste fantastic :-) Regular hamburger buns work great, or any bread you choose to use. Of course, if you prefer, you can make them larger and go for the full-fat, full flavor experience!
P.S. We have also made these momo burgers using ground chicken, and they turned out great. Actually the store did not have ground chicken that day, so we bought 1 pound of skinless, boneless thighs and cut them up small. If you use chicken make sure you cook the burgers enough, as you don’t want the meat undercooked.
